Galway Bay FM Newsroom – A Galway West TD has described the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic as dumb, dumb and dumb.
MP Catherine Connolly was contributing to the ongoing debate in Dáil this afternoon on the proposed return of mandatory quarantine in hotels.
MP Connolly sharply criticized the government’s response – particularly for taking action without in-depth analysis and debate.
She also explained how the government’s previous concern over the safe reopening of nightclubs while respite and day services have remained closed with little debate.
MP Connolly apologized for her fatigue at the Dáil – she was one of the few to sit in the hemicycle at 8 a.m. but noted that she had been up until 2 a.m. to read the legislation.
And she told Minister Stephen Donnolly that “moron” is the only way to sum up the government’s overall response to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, contributing to the ongoing debate, Galway East TD Sean Canney said those “voiceless” are being left behind in the discussion.
Speaking to the Dáil, he said these two years have been particularly horrific for some people, and that it is essential that we do not leave them behind as we move forward.
